I read “Managing Expectations” without knowing what to expect. I know close to nothing about climbing except that climbers like everyone else have certain expectations.  Consequently, I assumed that main theme of the post would be what climbers expect while climbing. What I expected was not what I encountered. Instead, the author discussed having expectations that are tempered by the gratification of working towards their realization. I get it; failing to meet one’s expectations might not be such a bad thing if something valuable is gained in the process. We should keep our expectations in proper prospective.
